A week in Ireland.
The start of a 6 week exploration through Europe found us in the far South-West regions of Co. Cork, Ireland. It never gets old visiting this country, especially when it has been one of the sunniest Summers on record, lucked out on that one. Even a week here is still not enough time to explore all the dramatic landscapes of the surrounding mountains and coastline facing the wild Atlantic.
We spent the day driving along the Kilmore Peninsula and here's what we found along the way.
Looking out over Barleycove Bay. Day for it!

Ballyrisode Bay. Not too bad for an Irish beach.
After soaking in the scenery around Barleycove, we continued South to Mizen Head, Ireland's most South-Westerly point. An old signal station sits atop shear cliffs into the Atlantic Ocean offering some pretty incredible views of the coastline.

We experienced some of Ireland's stunning coastline and on a new adventure we headed for the mountains. Pretty stoked on the run of sunshine (quite rare in Ireland), we packed the car and drove up one of the steep winding tracks to a gap called Priests Leap. From here we were on foot. The wind was howling but the sun was out. Jumping over bogs and thick moss we made our way up Knockboy Mountain, the highest in Co. Cork.

After spending most of the day hiking, it was back to the property and a few well earned pints of Guinness at our beach.

A last little adventure for the week saw us exploring the Beara Peninsula. It really does feel like the edge of the world in these parts.

Bumped into a few locals on the way.
Cahermore. A place which seems detached from the rest of the world. Pretty bleak and cold even in Summer, can only imagine what the Atlantic throws at this little town during Winter.
Glengarriff woods.
If you're going to find a Leprechaun in Ireland, I reckon this spot is your best bet.
